SMS Reminder Program
Snapback Health Recovery Reminders is an opt-in SMS program that sends post-surgical and post-procedural patients automated reminders for medication, exercises, wound care, daily check-ins, and appointments. This page describes the program, how patients opt in, and how they can opt out.
How Patients Opt In to SMS
Patients can only enroll in Snapback Health after being invited by their healthcare provider (clinic). When a patient is referred to Snapback Health, the opt-in process works as follows:
1Patient receives clinic code from their care team
The clinic provides each patient with a short alphanumeric clinic code (for example: OSI, FBJ, or CARDIAC) during their pre-operative visit or via secure email.
2Patient creates account at app.snapbackhealth.com
During account creation, the patient provides their name, email, password, an optional phone number, and the clinic code provided by their care team. The phone number field is clearly labeled as optional and is only used for SMS reminders if the patient affirmatively opts in. They review and check the consent boxes shown below before their account is created.

The RTM consent checkbox is required to create an account. The SMS consent checkbox is optional — patients can use the app without enabling SMS. Both consents are logged with timestamp in our database.
3Patient affirmatively enables SMS for specific reminders
After account creation, the patient navigates to the Reminders page in the portal. SMS is disabled by default for all reminder types. The patient must affirmatively toggle SMS on for each reminder type they wish to receive via text message, and provide their mobile phone number.

Patients control every reminder. Each reminder type has independent SMS and email toggles. Patients can enable SMS for some reminder types and not others. They can also customize the time of day each reminder is delivered. Patients can change these settings at any time.

How to Opt Out
Patients can stop receiving SMS messages at any time using any of the following methods:
- Reply STOP to any text message — opt-out is immediate
- Reply HELP to any message for support information
- Sign in to the patient portal, go to the Reminders page, and toggle SMS off for any or all reminder types
- Email john.oshea@snapbackhealth.com to request removal from all SMS communications
Privacy and Data Handling
Snapback Health is a HIPAA-compliant healthcare technology platform. We do not share patient mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes under any circumstances. Mobile information is used solely for delivering the recovery reminders patients have explicitly opted in to receive.
